Escape to one of Cape Town's prime seaside locations!
Enjoy the privacy and charm of this well-appointed historic cottage
right on the water's edge near Simon's Town.
Wildlife:
Relax to the sound of birdsong and gentle waves lapping. Experience
unique encounters with such South African wildlife as Cape clawless
otters, dolphins, cape fur seals, genets, dassies (hyrax) and jackass
penguins in the garden. During Cape Town's whale season between
July and November, experience the thrill of seeing Southern Right
whales swimming and breaching right in front of the house.
Magnificent Setting:
The Milestone enjoys a superb 180-degree uninterrupted sea-view.
You can appreciate the ever-changing moods of the panorama from
the spectacular sunrises over the sea and the Hottentots Holland
Mountains to the equally impressive pastel sunsets over Simon's
Town and the Cape Peninsula.
The Milestone is very self-contained and many activities
can be enjoyed right in front of the house. If you are keen on diving
or snorkelling, change at the house and wander the forty or so meters
to the water's edge where there is an easy entry point. There is
good diving all along this stretch of coast. As the sea is calm
it is ideal for swimming. |
 |
There are no neighbouring houses for
about a kilometre to the north towards Boulder's penguin colony,
which is within easy walking distance. Between The Milestone and
Boulders are three charming white sandy beaches, of which Fisherman's
Beach is a leisurely 3-minute walk from The Milestone. As much of
the shoreline is rocky and interesting there is every opportunity
to explore and enjoy the rock pools. A child's paradise! For dad
the Simon's Town Country Club and golf course is only a ten-minute
walk along the coast.
The house is situated in a secluded garden, which
gives way to wild coastal shrubs to the north and the shoreline
to the east, and is as close to the water's edge as one could hope
to get on the Cape Peninsula. It is situated in such a way that
it turns its back on the other houses in the area, making the outdoor
living area (lawns, deck and barbecue area) completely private.
A barbecue on the deck so close to the sea while the moon rises
over False Bay is an unforgettable experience. The perfect accommodation
for a secluded Cape Town holiday. |

Historical comfort:
The house was built in the 1920s and is made of Jarra wood from
the old pier in Muizenberg. It is well maintained and great effort
has been made to equip it well and to make it comfortable and pleasing
on the eye so that the guests can have a pleasant and relaxed holiday.
It is fully furnished, including bath & beach towels and bed
linen. The house has three bedrooms (two single beds, a bunk bed
and a double bed) and sleeps six comfortably. It has two bathrooms,
both with basins and toilets, one with a shower and one with a bath.
The living room is furnished with ample comfortable
seating,CD/DVD player and a television. The sunroom and living room
have large windows allowing for panoramic views of False Bay without
even having to leave the comfort of your armchair. The dining room
seats six. The galley style kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher,
fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, toaster kettle, and vacuum cleaner.
Washing machine and iron in outside room. |
| Safe and Secure:
The Milestone is protected by a reputable security firm and offers
secure parking with a lock up garage. Next to the garage is a milestone,
marking 25 miles along the Main Road from the Old Town House on
Green Market Square in Cape Town. Hence the name - The Milestone.
The Milestone offers privacy, an intimate seaside experience and
the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern
society and close to nature, recharging your batteries. Yet it is
very close to the village of Simon’s Town with its interesting
shops, art galleries, museums and good restaurants and within easy
commuting distance from other popular areas in Cape Town and the
Peninsula, as well as the Stellenbosch wine route. It is truely
the best choice in self catering accommodation in the whole Cape
